For consumption and waiting time/subsequent coverage, it is recommended to consult the technical sheets for the appropriate cleaner or primer. For other substrates compatibility tests must be done. If in doubt, apply the product to a test surface.

Lifetime of the mixture

Sikalastic®-614 is a fast drying product. High temperatures combined with high air humidity will influence the drying process. Opened packages should therefore be applied immediately. In opened packages, the film starts after approx. 1 hour (+20°C (+68 °F) / 50% r.h.).

Waiting Time / Recoating

+20 °C (+68 °F) / 50 % r.h.6 hours
+30 °C (+86 °F) / 50 % r.h.4 hours

*Four days after applying the first coat, the surface must be cleaned and primed with Sika® Reactivation Primer before proceeding.

Note: These times are approximate and could be affected by changing ambient conditions, especially temperature and relative humidity.

shuffle

No mixing is required, however, if the product is decanted or separated upon opening, mix Sikalastic®-614 lightly but thoroughly to achieve a uniform color. Light mixing reduces air entrainment.

APPLICATION

Before applying Sikalastic®-614, the substrate must be prepared and the applied primer must be cured and non-tacky. For wait/recoat times, see the appropriate primer's data sheet. Areas that can be damaged (balustrades, handrails, etc.) will be protected with masking tape or plastic film.

Coating: Sikalastic®-614 shall be applied in two coats. Before applying the second coat, the waiting times in the table will be observed. Roof covering layers can be partially reinforced on areas of high stress or areas of possible movement (eg overlap/joint area, etc.). Use strips of Sika® Reemat Premium on a reasonable surface. For joints with moderate movements, e.g. sheet or sheet metal panels, Sika® Flexitape Heavy reinforcing tape shall be used.

Reinforced waterproofing system: Sikalastic®-614 is applied in combination with Sika® Reemat Premium.

  1. Apply the first layer of Sikalastic®-614, approx. 1 l/m2. Work in advance only as long as the material remains liquid.
  2. Unroll the roll of Sikalastic® Reemat Premium. Overlap a minimum of 5 cm (1.97 in) and ensure that the overlap is completely embedded in the material and there are no pores/holes in the surface.
  3. Roll the treated surface until Sikalastic® Reemat Premium is completely embedded in the base layer. The stencil may require only a little extra material to be wetted, but no significant amount of material should be added at this stage.
  4. After the layer is dry enough to walk on, seal the surface with a second layer of Sikalastic®-614 with a minimum consumption of 0.75 l/m2.

Note: Always start with details before applying to horizontal surfaces. For details, follow the 4 steps above.

Waterproofing under ceramic veneers:

For waterproofing under ceramic tiles, follow the instructions from the reinforced waterproofing system. After hardening of the last layer of the waterproofing system, an additional layer of Sikalastic®-614 sprinkled with quartz sand (ø 0.4 -0.7 mm (0.0157 -0.0276 in)) is applied as an adhesion bridge. After the liquid membrane has hardened, the excess quartz sand is removed. For the application of the tile adhesive, see the adhesive data sheet.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean tools and equipment with Thinner C immediately after application. The hardened material can only be cleaned mechanically.
