To reduce the risk of condensation that can lead to damage to the finished surface, the temperature of the substrate and the unhardened material applied to the surface must be at least 3 °C (37 °F) higher than the dew point temperature. Note: Ambient conditions with low temperatures and high humidity increase the probability of surface damage. Support temperature| Minimum | +10 °C (+50 °F) | | Maximal | +30 °C (+86 °F) |

The following quartz sand mixes contain design quantities to be confirmed by pre-testing. Granulation distribution in a layer with a thickness of 15 - 20 mm (0.591 - 0.787 in), parts by mass (pm): - 25 pm quartz sand 0.1–0.5 mm (0.0039–0.0197 in)
- 25 pm quartz sand 0.4–0.7 mm (0.0157–0.0276 in)
- 25 pm quartz sand 0.7–1.2 mm (0.0276–0.0472 in)
- 25 pm quartz sand 2–4 mm (0.0787–0.157 in)
Note: The maximum grain size must not exceed 1/3 of the final thickness of the layer. The aggregates and the most suitable mixture will be chosen depending on the shape of the granules and the temperature at which the application is made and will be confirmed by pre-tests. Note: These values are theoretical and do not take into account additional consumption due to surface porosity, surface profile, unevenness or losses, etc. To calculate the specific consumption of the proposed substrate and application equipment, apply the product to a test surface. EQUIPMENTMIXING EQUIPMENT - Electric mixer with double paddles (> 700 W, 300 - 400 rpm)
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT - Short hair stencil roller
- Rubber scraper
- Idlers, including serrated
SUPPORT QUALITYThe cement base layer (concrete/screed) must be solid and have sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm 2 (3626 psi) ) with a minimum pull-out strength of 1.5 N/mm 2 (218 psi) . The support must be clean and free of contamination such as: impurities, residues, oils, fats, coatings or previous surface treatments, friable materials, etc. PREPARATION OF THE SUPPORTMECHANICAL PREPARATION OF THE SUPPORT IMPORTANT Exposure of cavities and surface defects Full exposure of cavities and surface defects must be ensured during mechanical preparation of the substrate. - Weak cementitious support layers must be removed.
- In order to remove milk from the cement, the concrete supports must be prepared by appropriate mechanical techniques and equipment such as sandblasting with a metal alice, scarification or milling.
- When applying thin resin coatings, use mechanical sanding to remove burrs and bumps.
- Use industrial vacuum equipment to remove dust and friable material from the surface before applying the Product.
- Use products from the Sikafloor®, Sikadur® and Sikagard® ranges for leveling the surface or filling cracks and holes/gaps.
Contact Sika Technical Department for further information on leveling and defect repair products. PREPARATION OF OTHER TYPES OF SUPPORT Contact the Sika technical department for further information on the preparation of other types of support. TREATMENT OF JOINTS AND CRACKS Constructive joints and surface static cracks existing in the support layer require prior treatment by local filling with material and leveling. In this way, the surface is sealed against material loss before the floor finish is applied. Use Sikadur® or Sikafloor® resins. shuffleNote: To increase the viscosity of the Product, Sika® Extender T can be added to the mixture. PRIMER MIXING PROCEDURE - Mix Component A (resin) for ~30 seconds.
- Add Component B (the hardener) over Component A.
- IMPORTANT Do not over mix. Mix Component A and B continuously for ~3 minutes until a uniform mixture is obtained.
- To make sure they are mixed evenly, pour the contents into another container and mix until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- In the final mixing phase, scrape the sides and bottom of the container with a straight/flat-edged spatula or trowel at least once to ensure thorough mixing.
PROCEDURE FOR MIXING THE LEVELING Screeds and Mortars - Mix Component A (resin) for ~30 seconds.
- Add Component B (the hardener) over Component A.
- While mixing the two components gradually add the required amount of filler or aggregates.
- IMPORTANT Do not over mix. Blend continuously for ~2 minutes until a smooth mixture is obtained.
- To ensure that they are evenly mixed, pour the contents into another container and mix again until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- In the final mixing phase, scrape the sides and bottom of the container with a straight/flat-edged spatula or trowel at least once to ensure thorough mixing.
APPLICATIONIMPORTANT Protect from moisture After application The product must be protected from moisture, condensation and direct contact with water for a period of at least 24 hours. IMPORTANT Temporary heating If space heating is required do not use heat sources based on fossil fuels such as: gas, oil, paraffin or other fossil fuels. Their burning releases large amounts of both carbon dioxide and water vapor that can negatively affect the surface finish. Only heating with electrical equipment (air heaters, etc.) is recommended. IMPORTANT Pinpoint defects If the Product is applied to porous substrates at elevated ambient temperatures, pinprick defects may result. - Apply the Product at decreasing ambient temperatures.
IMPORTANT Repair of pinprick defects Applying the next coat to a primed substrate with pinprick defects can lead to similar defects in it. Repair the defects by following these steps: - Lightly sand the primed surface (completely dry).
- Apply a leveling and pore closing layer consisting of the mixed Product and an addition of ~3% Sika® Extender T.
STANDARD PRIMER APPLICATION - Pour the mixed Product onto the backing layer. Note: Consumption is specified in the "Application Information" section.
- Apply the Product evenly to the surface using a roller or rubber squeegee.
- Uniformize by rolling with the short hair stencil in two perpendicular directions, in a cross. Note: To achieve a seamless finish, keep the "wet edge" during application.
- If spreading quartz sand is necessary, wait 15 to 30 minutes, then spread quartz sand over the surface, first lightly, then to excess.
- IMPORTANT Make sure that the waiting/recoating times are respected before applying the following products (see "Waiting/recoating time" section). Once the product has cured sufficiently, remove all unincorporated sand using industrial vacuum equipment.
LEVELING MORTAR / LEVELING AND PORE CLOSING LAYER - Pour the mixed Product onto the backing layer. Note: Consumption is specified in the "Application Information" section.
- Apply the Product evenly to the surface with a rubber squeegee or trowel.
CONNECTING BRIDGE - Pour the mixed Product onto the backing layer. Note: Consumption is specified in the "Application Information" section.
- Apply the Product evenly to the surface using a roller, rubber squeegee or brush.

- (Optional) If necessary, apply a second coat of primer.
EPOXY Screed IMPORTANT It is not suitable for direct contact with water The product is not suitable for direct contact with water unless sealed with a suitable cover. - Apply the mixed product "wet on wet" on the still sticky primer. Note: Consumption is specified in the "Application Information" section.
