ApplicationMixture ratio Component A : Component B = 79 : 21 (by weight) Ambient air temperature +10 °C (+50 °F) min. / +30 °C (+86 °F) max. The relative humidity of the air 80 % u.r. max. Dew point Beware of condensation! The temperature of the substrate and uncured material on the surface must be at least 3˚C higher than the dew point, to reduce the risk of condensation and delamination of the finished surface. Note: Conditions of low temperatures and high humidity increase the probability of surface delamination. Support temperature +10 °C (+50 °F) min. / +30 °C (+86 °F) max. Moisture content in the substrate ≤ 6 % pm moisture content using the Sika®-Tramex-meter (at the time of application). Please note that the moisture content must be ≤ 4 % pm when using the CM - carbide measurement method or the oven drying method. Test method: Sika®-Tramex-meter, CM - carbide measuring method or oven drying method. Rising moisture is not recommended, according to ASTM standards (polyethylene sheet test). Lifetime of the mixture
Hardening time Before applying solvent-free products over Sikafloor®-161, a waiting time shall be allowed as follows:
Before applying solvent containing products over Sikafloor®-161 a waiting time shall be allowed as follows:
Times are approximate and are affected by changes in ambient conditions, especially temperature and relative humidity. Consumption
These values are theoretical and do not take into account additional consumption due to surface porosity, surface profile, unevenness or losses, etc. shuffle Before combining, mix component A (resin) separately using an electric paddle mixer at low speed (300 - 400 rpm). Add component B (hardener) to component A and mix components A+B continuously for 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Electric two-paddle mixers (>700W), rotary vats, forced-mix mixers or other suitable equipment are used. No free-fall mixers are used. If necessary, add dry quartz sand of suitable grain size and/or extender T thixotroping agent. Mix for another 2 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. To ensure that they have been properly mixed, pour the contents into another container and mix again until a fine consistency is obtained. Prolonged mixing should be avoided to minimize aeration of the mixture. During the final mixing phase, scrape the sides and bottom of the container with a straight or flat-edged trowel at least once to ensure thorough mixing. Mix only whole units. Mixing time for component A + component B + quartz sand = 5 minutes. APPLICATION Strictly follow the instructions provided in the application methods which must always be adapted to the actual site conditions. Before application, the humidity of the substrate, the relative humidity of the air, the dew point, the temperatures of the substrate, the air and the product are checked. If the moisture content of the substrate is > 4% by weight, Sikafloor® EpoCem® can be applied as a temporary moisture barrier (B.T.U. system). Primer Pour the Sikafloor®-161 mixture onto the prepared substrate and apply with a brush, roller or rubber squeegee, then smooth by rolling with the roller in two perpendicular, cross directions. Make sure a continuous, non-porous layer covers the substrate. If necessary, apply two coats of primer. Make sure the waiting/recoating time is respected before applying subsequent products. Consult the product data sheet of the primer. Leveling mortar Apply the leveling mortar using a notched trowel/ rake pin squeegee to the required thicknesses. Intermediate layer Pour the Sikafloor®-161 mixture onto the prepared substrate and spread with a toothed squeegee to the required thickness. Immediately roll with the spiked trowel in two perpendicular directions, in a cross, to obtain a uniform thickness and if necessary spread quartz sand after approx. 15 minutes (at +20°C (+68 °F)) but before 30 minutes (at +20°C (+68 °F)), first slightly and then excessively. Bonding bridge Pour the Sikafloor®-161 mixture onto the prepared substrate and apply with a brush, roller or rubber squeegee. In the case of applying epoxy screeds, roll with the stencil in two directions, in a cross. Make sure that a continuous, non-porous layer covers the support. If necessary, apply two coats of primer. Epoxy screed / Repair mortar Apply the mortar screed evenly to the still "sticky" surface of the bridge, using a leveling trowel and if necessary, guide rails (witnesses). After a short waiting period, compact and finish the mortar with a trowel or finishing machine (electric helicopter) with Teflon paddles (usually 20 - 90 rpm). CLEANING OF TOOLS Clean all application tools and equipment with Thinner C immediately after use. Already hardened material can only be removed mechanically. |
