METALLIC FLOOR HARDENER

Sikafloor® ArmorTop is a metallic floor hardener for concrete, colored, single-component, pre-dosed, containing cement, hard metal aggregates, special additives and pigments.

Use

• Sikafloor® ArmorTop provides a hardened, metallic finish that does not stain and is highly wear-resistant for monolithic floors. When spread and mechanically chipped over freshly poured, wet concrete floors, it forms a colourful, highly wear-resistant, dense and smooth surface.

• It is used in warehouses, work surfaces or loading compartments with heavy working conditions, distribution centers with major durability requirements, production units, transport terminals, power plants, etc.

Advantages
  • The highest wear resistance
  • Excellent impact resistance
  • Does not tarnish, anti-corrosive
  • A good quality / price ratio, long durability
  • It does not require maintenance
  • It can also be made as a non-slip surface
  • Dust resistance
  • Available in a wide range of colors

+30 °C (+86 °F)8 hours 5 days

The above values depend on reaching the concrete strength designated for full operation and will be affected by changes in ambient conditions, especially temperature and relative humidity.

Consumption

~ 5 - 7 kg/m 2 . This value does not take into account the surface profile or losses.

SUPPORT QUALITY

The delivered concrete must be of adequate quality and comply with local standards. A concrete settlement between 75 and 110 mm (4.33 in) will normally give the best results. The slab shall be of good quality concrete with a minimum water/cement ratio consistent with the production of a fully compacted slab. The compressive strength must be at least 25 N/mm 2 (3626 psi) . It is recommended to use superplasticizers such as Sikament® or Sika Viscocrete® to ensure the optimal quality of the concrete, and where dispersed reinforcing fibers are used, for optimal dispersion in the mix. Air-entrained concrete is not a suitable support for the application of floor hardener.

APPLICATION

Mechanical application – Automatic sprayer in combination with laser screed

Spread Sikafloor® ArmorTop evenly on the freshly poured concrete immediately after leveling in a single application and in consumption of ~ 5 - 7 kg/m 2 . Manual application Depending on the conditions, excess water is removed from the concrete surface or allowed to evaporate. Spread Sikafloor® ArmorTop evenly on the freshly leveled concrete in 2 stages (first stage: 3 - 4 kg/m 2 ; second stage: 2 - 3 kg/m 2 ). Recommended consumption: 5 - 7 kg/m 2 . The product is applied taking care not to create unevenness on the concrete surface. Spreading Sikafloor®-ArmorTop powder carelessly or at a distance greater than 2 meters will reduce the consistency of the finish. Compaction The first application of the floor hardener must be worked into the concrete slab and is immediately followed by the second application of the amount of Sikafloor® ArmorTop. Notes:

  • Never add water to the surface where the floor hardener has been applied.
  • Sikafloor® ArmorTop produces a faster hardening of the board surface. A thorough processing of the edges is necessary, after which a new plate will be poured.
  • The final finishing for closing the pores and removing unevenness can be done both manually with a trowel and with a concrete chipping and finishing machine.

Application time

The application time for floor hardeners is conditioned by each variable that influences the pouring of the concrete and therefore can vary substantially depending on the prevailing conditions. In the case of mechanical application with automatic sprayer and laser screed, spreading can begin immediately after leveling the concrete to allow the hardener to hydrate. Compaction can begin as soon as the concrete supports the weight of the concrete chipping and finishing machine (helicopter finishing). In the case of manual application, spreading the floor hardener can be done when stepping on the fresh concrete does not leave traces deeper than 3 - 5 mm (0.118 - 0.197 in). The periodic check of the state and evolution of the concrete will determine a correct time frame for each stage or sequence of application.

STRENGTHENING TREATMENT

Protect and seal Sikafloor® ArmorTop immediately after finishing using any solvent-based curing anti-evaporation product from the Sikafloor® ProSeal range (see product data sheet for the product used). Apply in a continuous and even film using a low pressure sprayer. Spread the excess material by rolling with the stencil. Joints: After finishing operations and complete cutting of the joints, immediately clean the traces of lubricant or the resulting cement paste. Joints can be sealed with Sikaflex® PRO-3 or other suitable Sikaflex® sealant according to the requirements imposed by the floor project.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all application tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
