Chemical base

Polyurethane

Validity period

6 months from the date of production.

Storage conditions

The product must be properly stored in the original packaging, sealed and undamaged, in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C (+41 °F) and +25°C (+77 °F).

Density

1.30 kg/l (10.8 lb/gal) (EN ISO 2811-1)
The density value was determined at +23°C (+73 °F).

Solids content

Solids content by weight ~ 79% (EN ISO 3251)
Solids content by volume ~ 71% (EN ISO 3251)

Tensile strength

Unreinforced layer ~10 N/mm 2 (~1450 psi)
Reemat Premium* ~17 N/mm 2 (~2466 psi)
*Tested as part of the Sikafloor ® MonoFlex MB-55 / MB-56 / MB-57 systems.

Chemical resistance

Resistant to many chemicals. Please contact the Sika Technical Department.

Application
Ambient air temperature

+2°C (+36 °F) min. / +30°C (+86 °F) max.

The relative humidity of the air

80% u.r. max. 35% min. (below +20°C (+68 °F): 45% min.)

Dew point

Beware of condensation! The temperature of the substrate and uncured material on the surface must be at least 3˚C higher than the dew point, to reduce the risk of condensation and delamination of the finished surface.

Support temperature

+2°C (+36 °F) min. / +30°C (+86 °F) max. Frozen surfaces must thaw within 24 hours.

Moisture content in the substrate

No visible moisture (maximum 18% wood moisture equivalent). < 6% pm moisture content by Sika®-Tramex-meter test method, < 4% CM - carbide measurement method or oven drying method. Rising moisture is not recommended, according to ASTM standards (polyethylene sheet test).

Lifetime of the mixture

Material from opened containers should be applied immediately. In the case of opened containers, a hardened film will form on the surface in approx. 24 hours. High temperatures and relative humidity will significantly accelerate curing.

Hardening time

Before overcoating with Sikafloor®-405, a waiting time shall be allowed as follows:

Support temperatureMinimum Maximum
+10°C (+50 °F)24 hours 7 days
+20°C (+68 °F)18 hours 7 days
+30°C (+86 °F)12 hours 7 days

The application must take place within 7 days. Subsequent delays will require repriming with Sika® Reactivation Primer, assuming all dirt has been removed and contamination avoided. Times are approximate and are affected by changes in ambient conditions, especially temperature and relative humidity.

The applied product is usable after
TemperatureDry surface Drying Total curing
+20°C (+68 °F) / h.r. 50%~ 6 hours ~ 10 hours ~ 18 hours
+2°C (+36 °F)~ 12 hours ~ 20 hours ~ 30 hours

Note: Times are approximate and are affected by changes in ambient conditions and coating thickness.

Consumption

~0.4 - 1.45 kg/m²/layer depending on the application. Please refer to the respective System Data Sheet.

shuffle

Mechanically, gently mix Sikafloor®-405 before use.

Mixing tools Sikafloor®-405 should be mixed using an electric mixer with low rotation speed (300 – 400 rpm) or other suitable equipment.

APPLICATION

Before application, check the humidity of the support, the relative humidity and the dew point. The product can be applied as a primer with a brush or roller with medium nylon bristles and as a coating with a brush or roller with long bristles.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all tools and application equipment with Thinner C immediately after use. The already hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
