Cosmetic mortar for concrete repairs, local and zonal

Sika® Cosmetic D is a dark-colored, one-component cementitious mortar for local and zonal concrete repairs that meets the requirements of R3 in accordance with SR EN 1504-3.

Use
  • Especially suitable as a cosmetic mortar in assorted colors for small, local damage to concrete (broken edges, chipped corners, pores, voids, etc.)
  • As surface filling material, for balancing or leveling uneven surfaces.

Yield

A 12 kg (26.5 lb) bag of powder yields approximately 7.5 liters of mortar

shuffle

Pour the recommended water into a suitable mixing container. While mixing slowly, add the powder to the water and mix well for at least 3 minutes, adding additional water while mixing if necessary, up to the maximum amount specified and adjust to the desired consistency. Mixing equipment: Sika® Cosmetic D can be mixed with a hand mixer at low speed (<500 rpm).

APPLICATION

Depending on the application, Sika® Cosmetic D is applied with a spatula or trowel to the pre-moistened concrete substrate (saturated, dry on the surface).

When the mortar starts to harden, it can be finished with a wooden or plastic spatula, polystyrene block or PU sponge. Adding additional water is not necessary for finishing and may cause discoloration if applied. Color may vary depending on surface roughness and degree of drying. In general: The finer the finish, the lighter the color appears. To match the color of the mortar, Sika® Cosmetic grades L and D can be mixed together in any proportion. It is recommended to produce suitable samples and allow them to dry completely.

STRENGTHENING TREATMENT

Sika® Cosmetic D cures without shrinkage under normal weather conditions. Immediately protect the fresh mortar from premature drying using a suitable curing method, e.g. reinforcing compound, wet geotextile membrane, polyethylene sheet, etc.

CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all application tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
