Waterproofing additive

Sika®-1 is a liquid waterproofing additive for mortars and concretes with normal hardening.

Use

Sika®-1 is used for waterproofing mortars and concretes, especially for:

  • Plasters, masonry mortars and screeds
  • Reinforced or unreinforced concrete
  • Applications on concrete, brick or stone supports
  • Indoor and outdoor applications such as basements, swimming pools, tunnels, water tanks, drains and channels
  • Use in tropical and hot climates

Application

Recommended dosage

One part of Sika®-1 is added to 10 parts of water, which means the equivalent of approximately 3% of the cement content. When using very wet sand, the mixing ratio should be increased to 1:8, and in extreme cases to 1:6.

The cement:sand mixture ratio will not exceed 1:1 ... 1:3.

Note: Trial mixes should always be carried out to determine the exact dosage rates and amount of water required in the mix.

Sika®-1 must be stirred slowly before use to ensure a homogeneous product consistency.

Sika®-1 is diluted in the measured amount of water. The solution thus obtained is mixed slowly (to ensure a homogeneous consistency) before being added to the mortar or concrete mixer. Sika®-1 can be added slowly and directly to the mortar or concrete mixture, provided that the resulting mixture is properly mixed to obtain a homogeneous consistency.
