Hardening agent

Sikagard®-73 is a two-component hardener with reduced viscosity based on epoxy emulsion, which, due to its consistency, penetrates very easily and deeply into porous concrete or cement supports. After hardening, it hardens the surface, preventing the formation of dust and the penetration of liquids.

Use
  • improves freeze/thaw resistance
  • reduces the penetration of liquids
  • protects against evaporation and is protective for fresh concrete
Advantages
  • Deeply penetrates the support
  • Hardens the concrete surface
  • It improves the impermeability of the surface
  • Improves resistance to freezing / thawing
  • Strong anti-evaporation action for fresh concrete

In the case of epoxy resins, they are generally not permanently stable to UV radiation and the weather.

Typical technical data
APPROVALS / CERTIFICATIONS

- Test certificate according to RVS 11064, Hartl GesmbH Austria

Chemical base

Hardening agent based on two-component epoxy emulsion

Validity period

12 months from the date of production.

Storage conditions

To be stored in the original sealed and undamaged packaging, in a dry place and temperatures between +5°C (+41 °F) and +30°C (+86 °F). Protect yourself from the direct action of the sun.

Density

~ 1.0 kg/l (~ 8.35 lb/gal) at +20°C (+68 °F)

Application

Mixture ratio

component A : component B = 1.14 : 2.86 parts by weight

Ambient air temperature

+10°C (+50 °F) min. / +30°C (+86 °F) max.

The relative humidity of the air

< 70%

During application and during curing, all climatic conditions must be taken into account!

Dew point

During application and curing, the substrate temperature must be at least 3°C (37 °F) above the dew point. Avoid condensation!

Support temperature

+10°C (+50 °F) min. / +30°C (+86 °F) max.

Lifetime of the mixture

~ 45 minutes at +20°C (4 kg (8.82 lb)) Attention: The end of life of the mixture is not visible!

The applied product is usable after

Sikagard®-73 can be overcoated after ~ 20 hours at +20°C (+68 °F).

Consumption

~ 0.1 - 0.3 kg/m² per applied layer, depending on the absorbency of the support.

shuffle

Before combining, mechanically mix component A. After the entire amount of component B has been added to component A, mix further for 2 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Prolonged mixing should be avoided to minimize aeration of the mixture. Attention: Mix only the material that can be applied during the working time of the material (lifetime of the mixture)!

APPLICATION

Before application, check the humidity of the support, u.r. and the dew point.

It is applied by pouring the material and leveling it with a stencil roller in two perpendicular directions, in a cross, or by spraying. Remove excess material after approx. 15 minutes. Avoid the formation of puddles! Depending on the absorbency of the substrate, a second layer of Sikagard®-73 can be applied by rolling or spraying.
