Beware of condensation. To reduce the risk of condensation or efflorescence on the finished surface, the temperature of the substrate and the freshly applied material must be at least +3 °C (+37 °F) higher than the dew point temperature. Low temperatures and high relative humidity increase the probability of surface efflorescence.

Moisture content in the substrate

The product can be applied on dry substrates or with moisture content higher than 4% (CM Method). The support must not have standing water on the surface and have a pull-out strength of at least 1.5 N/mm (EN 1542). The support must not have rising moisture (ASTM D4263, polyethylene film test).

TREATMENT OF JOINTS AND CRACKS

IMPORTANT

Incorrect treatment of cracks

Incorrect assessment and treatment of cracks can lead to a reduced life of the finish and re-occurrence of cracks.

Existing construction joints and static surface cracks require treatment before the system is applied. Use resin-based products from the Sikafloor® and Sikadur® ranges to level and fill them.

The system can be applied to freshly poured or wet concrete without standing water. Wait at least 3 days after pouring the concrete to allow the initial shrinkage to wear out, thus preventing shrinkage cracking on the wearing surface.

The cement base layer (concrete/screed) must be solid and have sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm 2 (3626 psi) ) with a pull-out strength of at least 1.5 N/mm 2 (218 psi) .

The substrate must be clean and free of contamination, such as: impurities, residues, oil, grease, coatings or previous surface treatments, friable materials, etc.

PREPARATION OF THE SUPPORT

To prevent detachment of the material from the support in the end areas, place anchor grooves along exposed edges (perimeter, joints, connections, plinths, posts, gutters/siphons, etc.) as indicated and detailed in Method of Application: Sikafloor® PurCem®. The width and depth of the grooves must be equal to twice the thickness of the applied system.

IMPORTANT

PROCEDURE FOR MIXING 3 COMPONENTS

  1. Mix Component A (resin) until the pigment is dispersed and a uniform color is obtained.
  2. Add Component B (the hardener) to Component A.
  3. Continuously mix Components A + B for 30 seconds until a mixture of uniform color is obtained.
  4. After 30 seconds gradually add Component C while continuing to mix.
  5. After adding all the components continue mixing for 2 minutes, until a uniform mixture is obtained. Note: At temperatures below +15 °C (+59 °F) the mixing time increases by 30-60 seconds.
  6. To ensure thorough mixing, pour the material into another container and mix again until a homogeneous and uniform mixture is obtained.
  7. To ensure thorough mixing, scrape the sides and bottom of the container at least once during the final mixing step with a straight-edged trowel.

PROCEDURE FOR MIXING 4 COMPONENTS

  1. Mix Component A (resin) for approx. 30 seconds.
  2. Add Component D (pigment) to Component A.
  3. Mix Components A + D continuously for 30 seconds until a mixture of uniform color is obtained.
  4. Gradually add Component B and continue mixing for 30 seconds.
  5. Gradually add Component C while continuing to mix.
  6. After adding all the components continue mixing for 2 minutes, until a uniform mixture is obtained. Note: At temperatures below +15 °C (+59 °F) the mixing time increases by 30-60 seconds.
  7. To ensure thorough mixing, pour the material into another container and mix again until a homogeneous and uniform mixture is obtained.
  8. To ensure thorough mixing, scrape the sides and bottom of the container at least once during the final mixing step with a straight-edged trowel.
APPLICATION

IMPORTANT

Protection of the material after application

After application, protect the System from moisture, condensation and direct contact with water for at least 24 hours.

IMPORTANT

Protection of the material from condensation and accidental leaks

During application, protect the Product from condensation or any leaks from ceiling fixtures.

IMPORTANT

Surface staining under slow curing conditions

Under certain slow curing conditions, when the floor is open to foot traffic, the surface of the screed may stain, even if the mechanical properties of the Product have been achieved.

  1. Remove dirt using a mop or dry cloth.
  2. Do not wash the product with water for the first 3 days.

IMPORTANT

Ventilation of closed spaces

Always ensure good ventilation when applying the Product in enclosed spaces.

IMPORTANT

Applications on screeds based on modified polymer cement

Do not apply to polymer modified cementitious screed substrates. When sealed with an impermeable resin, moisture can cause them to expand.

LEVELING AND PORE CLOSING LAYER

  1. Pour the mixed Product onto the prepared support.
  2. Using a straight trowel, gently apply the Product to the prepared surface, respecting the required thickness, so that the texture of the surface is completely covered.

WEAR LAYER

  1. Pour the mixed Product onto the prepared support. Note: Consumption is indicated in the Application Information chapter.
  2. Apply the Product evenly to the surface using a toothed or pin squeegee.
  3. Uniform by rolling using the pin roller in two perpendicular, crosswise directions. Note: For a seamless finish, keep the "wet edge" during application.
CLEANING OF TOOLS

Clean all tools and application equipment with Sika® Thinner C immediately after use. The already hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
