Powdered Concrete Retarder and Truck Mixerwash Admixture

SikaTard® Pak is a powdered admixture formulated to control the hydration of cement. The SikaTard® Pak has been specifically formulated to enable the reduction of waste associated with the washing out of truck mixes. SikaTard® Pak is packaged in water soluble bags to enable ease of addition and handling.

Specific Advice

Application Information
Dispensing

SikaTard® Pak should be added directly to the truck or plant mixer
DISPENSING

When used for truck washout, the mixer should be emptied of all concrete prior to commencing with the SikaTard® Pak mixerwash system.

  • Add 200 litres of fresh water to the mixer (minimum 150 Litres)
  • Add required number of SikaTard® Pak bags to the mixer
  • Add coarse aggregate to mixer (~2000 kg)
  • Turn mixer at full speed for a minimum of 2 minutes
  • Run materials up and down the mixer 2-3 times to ensure all blades are coated
  • Turn mixer at full speed for a minimum of 1 minute
  • Stop the mixer with materials at the top of the mixer and park vehicle until required

Batching of next load

  • Concrete produced/batched onto the SikaTard® Pak mix must contain a minimum of 300 kgs of CEM I per load.
  • Ensure batch weights are adjusted to account for materials already in the mixer (eg. water and aggregates).
  • Produce/batch concrete and deliver.
  • For mixer drums greater than 8.0 m3, contact should be made with Sika Technical Services.
