Polypropylene microfibers for concrete and mortar

SikaFiber® PPM-12 are monofilament polypropylene fibers with a length of 12 mm (0.472 in), used in the reinforcement of mortars and concretes.

Use

Usable for most types of concrete and non-structural mortars that require the reduction of shrinkage cracks. For example:

  • Concrete floors and screeds
  • Concrete screeds and covering layers
  • Primers and plasters
  • Precast concrete elements
  • Twisted, sprayed applications
  • Extruded concrete
  • Indoor and outdoor applications
Advantages
  • Safe and easy to use
  • Improves durability
  • Reduces the tendency to crack due to plastic shrinkage and drying
  • Reduces permeability
  • Reduces floor shrinkage
  • Improves impact resistance
  • Reduces exfoliation of concrete at high temperatures

Application
DISTRIBUTION

Add the fibers together with the dry aggregates taking care to distribute the fibers evenly throughout the mix.

The fibers can also be added after all the components of the mixture have been dosed, but in this case the mixing time will have to be increased to ensure a uniform distribution of the fibers (1 minute of additional mixing is recommended for each m 3 ).

Do not add the fibers directly to the mixing water.

Recommended dosage

~600 g (~21.2 oz) per m 3 of concrete.

To reduce exfoliation of concrete at high temperatures, a dosage of 1000-2000 g/m 3 of concrete is recommended.
