Chemical base

Polyurethane

Validity period

12 months from date of manufacture

Storage conditions

The product must be properly stored in the original packaging, sealed and undamaged, in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C (+41 °F) and +25°C (+77 °F).

Density

1.00 kg/l (8.35 lb/gal) (EN ISO 2811-1)
The density value was determined at +23°C (+73 °F).

Solids content

Solids content by weight ~ 61.72% (EN ISO 3251)
Solids content by volume ~ 59.7% (EN ISO 3251)

Tensile strength

~27 N/mm² (~3916 psi) (24 h at 60°C (140 °F)) (EN ISO 527-1/EN ISO 527-3)

Chemical resistance

Resistant to standard solutions with 10% concentration of mineral acids, most alkalis, acid rain and detergents. Some oils and solvents can soften the surface. Salt spray to BS 3900 part 4, ASTM B117 and ASTM G85-94 (Annex A5) - 500 hours. No rust, blisters or delamination.
For specific information please contact the Sika Technical Department.

Application
Layer thickness

~ 0.2 – 0.25 kg/m²/layer. Please refer to the respective System Data Sheet.

Ambient air temperature

+2°C (+36 °F) min. / +30°C (+86 °F) max.

The relative humidity of the air

80% u.r. max. 35% min. (below +20°C (+68 °F): 45% min.)

Dew point

Beware of condensation! The temperature of the substrate and uncured material on the surface must be at least 3˚C higher than the dew point, to reduce the risk of condensation and delamination of the finished surface.

Support temperature

+2°C (+36 °F) min. / +30°C (+86 °F) max. Frozen surfaces must be thawed within 24 hours.

Moisture content in the substrate

No visible moisture (maximum 18% wood moisture equivalent).

< 6% pm moisture content by Sika®-Tramex-meter test method, < 4% CM - carbide measurement method or oven drying method. Rising moisture is not recommended, according to ASTM standards (polyethylene sheet test).

Lifetime of the mixture

Material from opened containers should be applied immediately. In the case of opened containers, a hardened film will form on the surface in approx. 24 hours.

High temperatures and relative humidity will significantly accelerate curing.

Hardening time

Before applying Sikafloor®-406 over Sikafloor®-405 a waiting time shall be allowed as follows:

Support temperatureMinimum Maximum
+5°C (+41 °F)24 hours 7 days
+20°C (+68 °F)18 hours 5 days
+30°C (+86 °F)12 hours 3 days

Before applying Sikafloor®-416 over the colored quartz sand screed, a waiting time shall be allowed as follows:

20°C (68 °F) / 50% r.h.hardening in minimum 8 hours.
2°C (36 °F)curing in 24 hours.

Times are approximate and are affected by changes in ambient conditions, especially temperature and relative humidity.

The applied product is usable after
Temperature / HumidityDry to the touch Foot traffic
20°C (68 °F) / 50% r.h.6–7 hours 8 hours
2°C (36 °F)24 hours

Note: Times are approximate and are affected by changes in ambient conditions and coating thickness.

Consumption

~ 0.1 – 1.0 kg/m²/layer depending on application. Please refer to the respective System Data Sheet.

shuffle

Mix Sikafloor®-406 and Sikafloor®-Quartz Sand KG 7, e.g. Graffito (0.6 – 1.2 mm (0.0236 – 0.0472 in)) using an electric mixer with low rotation speed for 2 minutes to obtain a homogeneous mixture. The mixing ratio is 0.75 l Sikafloor®-406 and 5 kg (11 lb) Sikafloor®-Quartz Sand KG 7, e.g. Graffito (0.6 -1.2 mm (0.0236 -0.0472 in)).
